Jeff served as CEO, Interim CEO, COO, and senior executive in businesses such as IT market research/analyst services, health care services and software, dispute resolution, software development outsourcing, biomass energy production, waste recycling, specialty food products, life sciences, marketing analytics software, consumer health food products, and education technology. Previous executive leadership positions include Senior Vice President of Giga Information Group; President and CEO of Current Analysis, Inc.; President of Hundsun Global Services; and President of Business Strategy Group. Jeff currently serves as Vice Chairman at Business Strategy Group and is a principal at Marlborough Street Partners.
Jeff Massa is a serial entrepreneur, having successfully started and exited several venture-backed companies, such as YellowBrix were he served as President and CEO and as SVP of Technology of the Corporate Information Division of Infoseek Corporation. Most notably, Mr. Massa served three Presidents as the Manager of Information Systems and Deputy Director of Systems from 1987 – 1993 for the Executive Office of the President, National Security Council, The White House. Jeff is a principal at Marlborough Street Partners.
David Hatch brings 30 years of technology marketing, sales and customer success leadership experience. He is the founder of CMO in Residence, a marketing and business development consulting firm. Formerly, David was CMO at IANS, an information security services firm, and was the EVP/GM of Harte Hanks Technology Market Solutions and Aberdeen Group, a Boston-based market research firm.
Karen Shoemaker brings to Corvium more than 30 years of accounting, finance and administration experience working with startups and emerging growth companies from fundraising through exit. Prior to joining Corvium, she served as VP of Finance at BioInformatics, Inc and as Director of F&A and Controller at BioTelemetry Research (fka Cardiocore Labs). As founder and principal of By the Numbers, Inc, Karen worked with venture capital firms to develop accounting systems and integrate acquisitions and mergers.
Dr. Stephen Bloch is a general partner at Canaan Partners. A former entrepreneur and practicing physician, Steve’s mission is to make healthcare delivery more efficient. In addition to Corvium, he currently serves on the boards of companies in digital health (Genome Medical, Truveris and Ambra Health); biopharma (Envisia and Liquidia) and medical devices (Mitraspan, Onkos Surgical). Before joining Canaan, Steve founded multiple start-ups, including Radiology Management Sciences (RMS), a pioneer in managing radiology benefits for health plans, where he was CEO for 6 years.
Sam Kass is a food entrepreneur, former White House Chef and senior policy advisor for nutrition. Sam joined the White House kitchen staff in 2009 as assistant chef and, in 2010, became food initiative coordinator. During his White House tenure, he took on several additional roles including executive director of First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” campaign and senior White House policy advisor for nutrition. In 2011, Fast Company included Sam in their list of 100 Most Creative People, and in 2012, he helped create the American Chef Corps, which is dedicated to promoting diplomacy through culinary initiatives. He is also the founder of TROVE and is an MIT Media lab fellow.
Dr. Michael Koeris is co-founder of Sample6/Corvium and BiotechStart.org, a non-profit in the Biotech / Lifesciences arena. Michael specializes in development and innovation within biotechnology, startups, venture capital, technology transfer, management consulting, and is an avid basketball fan and master of the pick ‘n roll.
Dr. Timothy Lu is a pioneer in synthetic biology and an associate professor at MIT. He is a co-founder of Sample6/Corvium, Synlogic (NASDAQ: SYBX), Tango Therapeutics, Eligo, BiomX, and Engine Biosciences. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the NIH New Innovator Award, the US President Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, and MIT Technology Review’s TR35.
Andy Ziolkowski is managing director of Cultivian Sandbox and co-founder and managing partner of Cultivian Ventures. Andy’s 30+ years of experience in investing and merchant banking span a broad range of industries and successful ventures, including DexCom, Biomimetic Pharmaceuticals, FutureHealth, Tessera, i-STAT and The Liposome Company.
